Curiosity Killed the Cat played soulful, jazzy, and funky pop music and were initially signed to Phonogram Records’ Mercury imprint. The first came to notice of the UK music press when they hooked up with photographer Andy Warhol for the video of the 1986 single “Misfit”. This featured the band in New York and at one point featured frontman Ben Volpeliere-Pierrot dancing down a side street whilst Andy Warhol referenced Bob Dylan’s “Subterranean Homesick Blues” by dropping pieces of white card in time to the music (an effect that would also be copied by INXS in the video for their track Mediate of 1988).

Their debut album Keep Your Distance entered the UK Albums Chart at number one in May 1987, and stayed in the Top Ten for 13 weeks, however the release of that album’s “Free” as a single lost some of the momentum by limping to only Number 56 in the singles chart.

The band’s second album Getahead was led by an upbeat funky track called “Name and Number”. Even though this record only reached Number 14 in 1989, the “Hey How You Doin’” refrain would find itself in the Top Ten two years later as part of the De La Soul song “Ring Ring Ring (Ha Ha Hey)” .

After the lack-lustre performance of Getahead and second single “First Place”, Curiosity (as they were now billed) found themselves dropped from Mercury Records. However three years after the release of that single they returned to the UK Top Ten as a three piece on RCA Records, with a cover of Johnny Bristol’s “Hang On In There Baby”. However the band’s follow ups (covers of “I Need Your Lovin’” and “Gimme the Sunshine”) flopped, which resulted in the album Back to Front only being released in Japan and selected overseas markets.

In the 2000s the band reformed for an appearance on a National Lottery midweek show on BBC 1, and since then Volpeliere has toured under the name Curiosity Killed the Cat, on a number of 1980s revival packages.

subHuman is the fifth album released by Recoil. Alan Wilder stated in a September 2006 YouTube greeting that there would be a new album coming in spring or early summer 2007. On April 23, 2007, he released information regarding the album via MySpace and his official website, Shunt. subHuman was released on July 9, 2007 in the UK (August 14, 2007 in the USA). It has been released on various formats including standard CD, gatefold vinyl and a special CD/DVD edition which includes Stereo, 5.1 Surround and exclusive “ambient” mixes. The DVD disc is set to include all the music videos to date. The album is also released on a 2 LP gatefold vinyl.

Working with Wilder on this album is New Orleans native bluesman Joe Richardson, who contributes vocals, guitar, and harmonica. Also working on subHuman is his wife and assistant, Hepzibah Sessa, and Paul Kendall, who worked on 2000’s Liquid and mixes from 1997’s Unsound Methods. Also contributing is English singer Carla Trevaskis, who has worked with Fred de Faye (Eurythmics), Cliff Hewitt (Apollo 440) and Dave McDonald (Portishead).

The track “99 to life” refers to the term used to describe the maximum jail sentence handed out, short of the death penalty. This is based on a real story according to Richardson in an interview with the industrial music magazine Side-Line.

Yo solia ser un cliente de DSL de Bell Sympatico, luego me mude y mi velocidad decayo de 5 a 2 MB.
Depues de pelear con el soporte tecnico que puedo asegurar que se encuentra en India, decidi que no podia seguir peleandome con gente que no tenia idea y fue asi que decidi mudarme a Rogers, ahora tengo 8 MB y soy feliz.
Al margen por usar Rogers tengo una cuenta PRO de Flickr gratis, por lo cual no me puedo quejar!

I used to be a Bell Sypatico DSL subscriber, later I moved to my new house and my speed dropped from 5 MB to 2 MB.
After trying to get a decent answer from Sympatico tech support which I believe is located in India I decided that I had enough and I switched to Rogers, now I have 8 MB of speed and a free Flickr Pro account!
