The Good, The Bad, The Ugly of Argentina - Germany
Good:
Ayala: Played like a lion…Hoping he can last 4 years
Sorin: Another lion. Great Captain
Maxi: Argentina’s most valuable player
The Forwards: Not sure they were used in optimal formation when it counted. Not bringing on Messi for Crespo
is, in retrospect, the worst call of all time. Otherwise, they were respectable, save Cruz’ dismal performance
Coloccini: After the disaster of Scaloni and himself somewhat of a last resort - He played brilliantly vs Germany.
Bad:
Pekerman had done a reasonable job until about minute 60 of Germany where he became 100% responsible for the loss.
As has been mentioned (and as was obvious vs Ivory Coast) Argentina is not at its best when it turtles. If Aimar & Messi
had been brought on to regain our dominance in posession (could you ask for 2 better players to do it?) - I have NO DOUBT
Argentina would have won.
Facile as it is to blame a referee: When at the edge of our box there is an extremely dangerous free kick given with NO CONTACT,
and minutes later there is a 100% FACTUAL penalty commited on Maxi unwhistled….Well, one really begins to wonder…
Abbondanzieri…Until today, El Pato greatly exceeded my expectations…However, he better have broken ribs or internal bleeding
to have taken from the team the option to bring in Messi, or whomever later on…The Cruz decision by Pekerman exponentially
magnified the problem
The Ugly
To all the Brazilians who have never been here before, but today choose to come and make ugly comments. I guess the fact that you’re
here reveals the bottom feeding nature of your character. Granted, this Brazilian team (save Ronaldinho) is a bunch of fat-assed
dinosaurs, but I would have never guessed the amount of fear & venom for Argentina. Today was the REAL final between the two best teams, and you certainly know that. Thankfully, we can look forward to decades of dominance given the total superiority of Argentina’s young players. As for now…Vive Le France!

1 commentPekerman quits as Argentina coach

Jose Pekerman has quit as coach of Argentina following their quarter-final loss to Germany on penalties.
“This has come to an end and I will certainly not go on,” he said.
“You have to make a decision and I’m convinced I’ve done everything in my reach, and it’s time to look for something else.
“I’m very sorry for the coaches and the fans and the players, this team deserves to go further but we couldn’t make it.”
Argentina led through a Roberto Ayala goal but Miroslav Klose’s late equaliser sent the game into extra-time.
Ayala and Esteban Cambiasso both missed in the penalty shoot-out to see the hosts progress 4-2.
The 56-year-old Pekerman added: “It was a very exciting match. We also played like favourites and gave our best although we lost.
“The penalties were a consequence of a very even match. It’s a shame for Argentina who played very well and in the whole championship.”
Klose’s equaliser came eight minutes after Pekerman had taken off playmaker Juan Riquelme.
The decision was heavily criticised by BBC pundits Alan Hansen, Martin O’Neill and Leonardo.
Former Brazil star Leonardo said: “It was a big mistake of the coach. You can’t change the game like that when it is 1-0. Riquelme is an important player in the team.
“It’s a big sign to the team that you are to defend and you always lose like that.”
Hansen added: “I think the coach blew it. They got the goal and took off Riquelme at a stage when it was tailor-made for someone to put their foot on the ball and pass it.
“I think if he’d stayed on they would have won.”
“He is a big player for them,” added O’Neill. “There didn’t seem too much wrong with him.
“It’s a big call by Pekerman and he’s got it wrong.”
Pekerman took over as Argentina coach in September 2004, having previously led the Under-20 side to three World Youth Championships.

No commentsArgentina - Germany, a tournament classic
When the ball gets rolling on Friday at 17:00 local time ( 11:00 Toronto’s time) at Berlin’s Olympiastadion, millions around the globe will take sides. FIFA World Cup™ meetings between Germany and Argentina are often the stuff of legend, and with a semi-final spot up for grabs on Friday, this latest clash should be no exception.
Colours for the game
Germany: White shirts, black shorts and white socks
Argentina: Blue shirts, black shorts and white socks
The story so far
After a convincing last-16 win over Sweden, there has been nothing but good vibes emanating from the German camp. The players have enjoyed spending some well-deserved time with their families and friends, while several squad members took up the offer of archery lessons for a bit of additional target practice. As for the team, all the indications are that coach Jurgen Klinsmann will start with the same 11 players who earned the hosts their place in the quarter-finals last Saturday.
As for Argentina, Jose Pekerman has also declined to confirm his starting XI ahead of the game, though he too is unlikely to make unforced changes to the side that saw off Mexico in their Round of 16 tie. Pekerman’s only doubts concern the right side of his defence and midfield. At the back, it is not yet clear whether Nicolas Burdisso, who started in the team’s first two games, will line up on Friday. If not, then either Lionel Scaloni, Fabricio Coloccini or Leandro Cufre will be ready to step in. As for midfield, Porto’s Luis Gonzalez looks likely to return on the right side, although it is conceivable he could yet lose out to the in-form Esteban Cambiasso.

Front Line Assembly - Humanity (World War Three)

The boys are back in town! Bill Leeb, Rhys Fulber, and Chris Peterson have joined ranks once again to create the best Front Line Assembly release that the electronic industrial community has seen in over a decade. The trio began work on Artificial Soldier in early 2005, and it was time well spent. The newly re-formed line-up managed to create a release that no only lives up to the expectations of Front Line Assembly fans, but surpasses them. Heavy pounding beats, atmospheric strings, percolating melodies, dynamic synths and Bill Leeb’s trademark vocals couldn’t be fused together any tighter if you tried to do it at an atomic level. As if all of those factors weren’t enough, two guest vocalists appear on Artificial Soldier – Eskil Simonsson from Covenant (on “The Storm”) and Jean-Luc De Meyer from Front 242 (on “Future Fail”)! Artificial Soldier is one album not to be missed for 2006 or any year for that matter.

Juana Molina - Rio Seco
Ahora, otro… Dando vueltas me voy dando cuenta
estoy sola…
Donde hubo fuego heridas quedan
heridas quedan…
Donde hubo fuego heridas quedan
heridas quedan…
Mire para otro lado
y vi lo que paso
No, no quiero, no
El tiempo ha terminado
Mira lo que quedo
No, no quiero, no
Ahora, Ahora, Ahora, Ahora…
No recuerdo, que te importa
